Our entire existence, as human beings, is a complete contradiction. To understand this, is to understand our place in this world, our time in this society, our direction. We like to pretend we know what we’re doing. We like to pretend we’ve got it all together. We like the dominance we think we deserve. We like the power trips.  We lie and we cheat. We’re built in a world where it’s impossible to be selfish. Our human nature is to be selfish. We’re a social species but put individual needs before general needs.
We don’t know anything.
I’m not saying there aren’t good people in the world; There are. The problem is that good people come last. We like to fantasize and lie that good deeds return to us, but let’s have a reality check. Who’s our president? Who do we read about in our text books? Who’s Hitler? How about the KKK?
Explain to me why I know more about bad people than I do good. Explain to me why the selfish are the most wealthy. Explain to me why the cold and the heartless are the less attacked.
Good people may be wealthy spiritually, emotionally, or mentally, but sometimes good people are left unarmored. Good people are taken advantage of. Good people are hurt.
We like to make up theories, like karma or religion, that essentially force people to have to be good. Why? We’re naturally selfish. We have to be tamed somehow.

Be a good person. We need more of them.
But don’t forget to be armored as well. The armor keeps you safe; It doesn’t mean you need to be a shitty person. It’s important to be soft and kind, but it’s also important to be aware and protected. In this society, they’re critical living skills.
